SEAKEEPER
A 40' Blue Water Motor Cruiser
Brewer Design #200

SEAKEEPER was designed for an owner who required a moderate speed, semi-displacement motor yacht with long range capability for cruising the waters from Maine to the Caribbean.

The construction is of aluminum and is both strong and low maintenance. Indeed, modern aluminum yachts built of 5000 series alloy do not need to be painted above the waterline as they simply do not corrode in sea water. The design is intended as a live-aboard for a couple with occasional guests.

Features include a roomy owner's cabin forward, a spacious wheelhouse/ saloon, a roomy U shaped galley, a spacious head with stall shower, and a dinette aft that converts to a wide double for guests. The layout can be altered to suit individual owner's preferences, of course.

The side decks are wide and protected by deep bulwarks and lead to a comfortable aft cockpit. A ladder from the cockpit takes you up to the boat deck where there is good lounging space and ample room for a motor or sailing dinghy. A flying bridge can be fitted over the wheel house if desired.

The prismatic coefficient of .68 is ideal for 10 knot cruise speeds and this allows the SEAKEEPER to be driven economically with engines of reasonable power instead of great fuel guzzlers. Twin engines are fitted and the propellers and rudders are protected by skegs from debris, shoals and other hazards of the sea. We suggest engines of 75-90 h.p. for the vessel and, preferably, slower turning models for long reliable service. Naturally, we will be glad to consult on powering and propellers for the lucky owner.

If you are looking for a rugged coastal cruiser with large fuel capacity and sensible cruising speeds, then the SEAKEEPER deserves your serious attention.
